We have been given an invitation for our young people to take part in a regional Cooking Competition

The winners will receive a share of £500 as follows:

  • £50 Primary category winner
  • £100 Family category winner
  • £150 Secondary category winner
  • £200 Overall Young Cooks champion.

 

To enter, they prepare a dish they have created, which they think is delicious, healthy and showcases their cooking skills.

The Young Cooks judges love to see local produce being used, so thought should be given to this.

Any young person aged 6 – 19 (Cubs to Network) may enter 'Young Cooks' during the nomination window.

Finalists are invited to cook their dish for our VIP panel at the live regional final.

The aim is to develop the confidence and abilities of young people to prepare meals to a fixed budget, as well as to increase awareness of healthy options and locally grown produce.

Finalists will not only have to cook their dish, they will have to spend a few minutes explaining to the judges how and why they created it.

Deadline to submit a completed entry: Complete the simple online entry form before midnight on Tuesday 7 November.

The final will be judged by supporters from Whole School Meals, FFK Catering, Chequers Kitchen Cookery School, Brakes and Southern Co-operative, as well as Suzanne Howe Communications, Orbit housing association, York House Hotel, Eastbourne, Benenden Hospital Trust, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Golding Homes, Licensing Consultancy Services, NFU Mutual and S E Medical.
