Giving adult volunteers the skills they need to deliver exciting, safe but challenging programmes, enabling them to cope with difficult situations as well as supporting them through a learning journey, requires a passion for learning.
'People do what people see' and so we need someone who can inspire other adults, giving them a passion for learning themselves as well as looking at how learners learn. Gone are the days where we deliver training the way we've always done it; we need a fresh approach.
Flexible learning, distance learning, coaching, mentoring, video links, web chats, electronic welcome packs...all just some of the ways in which we can engage adult volunteers to give them confidence to deliver programmes for young people. Can you think of more?
