Hi and welcome to the Scout Area of East Sussex County Scouts Website.

Scouts can be found all over the world, and there are more than 28 million, from Aberdeen to Timbuctoo!

Scouts are aged 10 – 14 and are a mixture of both boys and girls.

Scouts take part in activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. As a Scout you can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming, or even how to fly a plane. There’s something which will appeal to every young person. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world.

For the scout who wants to be recognised for their achievements there are a number of Challenge Awards and Activity Badges that can be gained. Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes.

Being outdoors is important and a large majority of the Scouting Programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and backwoods cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities, anything from abseiling to yachting.

The international aspect gives Scouting a special appeal and many Scouts now travel abroad during their time in the Section. In  2015 over 33,500 Scouts from around the World attended the World Jamboree in Kirarahama, Yamaguchi in western Japan.  Scouts regularly participate in International camps and experiences both on home soil and abroad, each of them offer a unique experience in its own right.

Scouting is about being with friends, as part of a team, participating fully in the adventure and opportunities of life.

You never know what you can achieve until you try!
