Where - Broadstone Warren

When - 10th-12th May 2019

Cost - Free to camp and take part. You may need some cash for food (except Saturday night) and the bar!

We are now in the planning stage of our adult volunteers training /social weekend. Following on from #TuneUp18 we are running another camping weekend for adult volunteers across East Sussex. If you are an occasional helper, assistant leader, leader, commissioner or committee member then this weekend is for you. We have listened to the feedback from 2018 and so this year we are focussing on PROGRAMME.

Our outline so far is:

Friday 10th - 6pm onwards - arrival for camping (we also have indoor accommodation available)!

Saturday 11th May - Activities start around 9:30am and run through to about 5:30pm.

Sessions will be delivered by the ACCs responsible for each section. If you are a section leader - bring your programmes with you so that we can have a mass sharing session.

As well as the section programme sessions, we will deliver separate sessions on:

  • the district training role

  • GSL induction

  • Appointment Committees

  • Executive Chairs

  • First aid refresher

  • TA updates

  • Adult Recruitment

  • Camping/Firelighting skills

  • Scouting skills

The evening will be handed over to socialising with a hog roast (and alternative option), a bar, a camp fire and a disco (maybe even some karaoke!). No finish time :)

On Sunday 12th May - sessions will run throughout the morning on the Network programme, Young Leader engagement and involvement, International and Activities updates as well as a short input on Generational differences.  We'll also be having a Tai Chi session early on the Sunday morning.

Throughout the weekend, you'll also be able to have-a-go at Zip Wire, Crate Stacking, High Ropes, Climbing Tower, Archery and Shooting. You'll also have the opportunity to do your on-line learning at our media suite and gain practical knowledge around OSM. We're also hoping for demonstrations from Millets on different camping equipment, a have-a-go sessions from some local Morris Dancers, hand bell ringing & drumming. There may also be demonstrations on coppicing and chain saw carving. You'll have a chance to purchase bushcraft equipment over the weekend as well as making twists. Oh and there may even be a badge this year for you to purchase!

You'll be able to gain more information on activities that we cater for at Broadstone Warren as well as tours of the site for those who are new (or haven't visited for many years).

So all in all, why wouldn't you want to take part? You'll be able to book on line soon at our Adult Training area of the website. Keep an eye on it, though I'll post when it's live on social media.

See you there...I'm excited; aren't you?
